Techniques In Dart
For A Better Game -
5 Tips on throwing Darts
The basic requirements for the grip:
1. Aim and direct! The chief objective or purpose of your grip
should able be to retain the end of the dart pointing or facing up
in each throwing stage.
2. Solid and relaxed. The grip should be stable, firm and should not
put tension to the muscles of your fingers. When your fingers become
white due to force exerted, this is an indication that your grip
overly excessive. If also you feel that your muscles are strained
resulting in difficulty in releasing the dart, this too, is not
good. Keep in mind that Dart is a not a game of force, but rather
touch. To keep your touch, just grasp the dart loosely just so it
will not slide, and hold it firmly so as to maintain control when
speeding up. Usual error that most do is gripping the dart too
firmly than loosely.
3. Use at least three fingers. More fingers will provide more
regulation and control in gathering speed or acceleration and more
feel, but makes releasing difficult as there are more fingers that
has to be well coordinated. Finger coordination is an important
point for release in your grip.
4. Shape of barrel. Not all types of grips will be suitable or
functional on different barrel types. Longer barrels compel a grip
using more fingers, while a grip with not much fingers for short
barrels. Not only that you need to discover the right grip for you,
but you need to discover the barrel that’s right for you as well.
5. No to a fist. Spread your fingers that are not included in your
grip away; if you are using your four fingers when you are holding
the dart, and the smallest finger joins the other four making a fist,
it will cause the other four fingers muscle strain and will result
to a fist than to an open hand that is necessary for an effective
release.
The stance
“Right foot forward” stance. We achieve and understand this when we
examine the position of a player while aiming. When aiming, players
set the eye, the dart and the target in a line. When a player makes
a throw he must try to place the three control routine of his arm in
a plain of two dimensions. This decreases error by disregarding
sideward actions of the arm.
The throw
Distribution of your weight. The weight chiefly rests on the
forwarded foot while your foot behind will hold adequate weight to
thoroughly balance your posture. Keep in mind that regardless which
distribution of weight you will use, your posture should be very
firm and unshakable. The forward foot, should constantly remain on
the ground or floor.
Leaning. The more that you lean your body forward, the closer
you reach the board however the more it will be demanding physically
and unbalanced your throw or hurl will become. If you bend forward
excessively, this will result to back strains in the long run.
Practice and try to find a better position for throwing.
Balance. Lifting your balance leg when throwing is
discouraged, keep your balance foot on the floor always.
Torso. Your posture must assure that during a throw, your
body should be kept still.
Dart is a game of skill and would require constant practice on your
part. You have to discover your own individual grip, stance and
style of throw. Everything that measure up to the standards that you
can handle will benefit your game. Put in mind not to merely imitate
the style of play of other dart players. You have to solve it on by
yourself.
You can very well try grips and throwing styles of different
individuals for the main purpose of comparing and finding out which
part of it is appropriate for you, or in order for you to learn the
connections technically and enhance your skill, but you should be
able to find your own style, the one wherein you feel very
comfortable with and that results to a better play each time.
Achieve this through constant practice and thorough and keen
observation on other good dart players or on professionals; look
into their style of play and if you can very well do it with ease
and comfort, then implement or incorporate it on your style.
